A habitation check is a detailed inspection and examination of the living area of your motorhome, caravan, or horsebox. Whereas a service focuses on the mechanical condition of the vehicle.

Motorhomes, caravans, and horseboxes must be serviced regularly to ensure they are safe and roadworthy. The habitation area must also be inspected periodically to ensure everything is safe and operating as it should be.

Additionally, if your vehicle is under warranty, it will require a habitation check and service to keep the warranty valid. Some insurance companies also stipulate that you need regular habitation checks and servicing.

Finally, regular habitation checks and servicing help maintain the value of your vehicle, making it more attractive to prospective buyers.

Motorhomes, caravans, and horseboxes should have a habitation check and service annually, even if they are only used a couple of times a year, as lack of use can cause problems.
